School Games Virtual Tag Rugby
Where & When
DATE - Monday 20th September - Friday 22nd October
TIME - 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
At any time during the Term 1 2021, your school can take part in our Tag Rugby challenge. These activities are designed for primary school aged children, to help them build their confidence and develop their rugby skills, and to encourage enjoyment of the game.
The activities are on the Rugby Primary Challenge Cards (below) and include:
- Team Tag (develops teamwork, spatial awareness and evasion skills)
- Keep Ball (develops fair play, passing and finding space)
- End Ball (develops tactics, communication and passing accuracy)
There are additional mini-games for skills development (see Tag Rugby Skills Practice attached below). Additionally, you could play a game of Tag Rugby within your class bubble. Please see the links below for an explanation of the rules.
How to Participate
We have Tag Rugby equipment (rugby balls and tag belts) which you can borrow for this event, if you are local to the Barnsley area. Equipment can be loaned for up to one week. If you need to borrow any equipment, please indicate this on the booking form. We will arrange to deliver the equipment to your school before the event and collect it from you after the event.
To participate, simply:
- Register your school using our booking form
- Download the activity cards and score sheets (below)
- Have fun trying out the activities!
- Send us your results and photos
If you are feeling competitive, you can compare your results with other schools in your area. You can decide whether or not we publish your results.
We will be focusing on RFU Key principles of rugby:
